Popis: Names of the Christian origin made 94.1 % of the names given to boyars in the Grodno district. They were recorded in canonical and folk versions. Moreover, both forms were used almost equally often, with a slight majority (50.25 %) of the canonical over the folk versions (49.75 %). 33 names were recorded only in a canonical version, 53 names – in a folk version, while 17 names were written in both versions. Some forms of names could be of Western and/or Eastern origin. 12 names were written using only Eastern form, 8 names – using Western form, while 7 names were recorded using both forms. People with names in Eastern form (161) were almost twice as many as those whose names were written in Western form (89). It is not known whether all people whose names were recorded in Western form were Catholics and those whose names were recorded in Eastern form were the Orthodox. Christian names, characteristic for Orthodox (20) in the Grodno district, were more than typical Catholic names (7). On the other hand, fewer people were given names that are typically Orthodox (38) than Catholic (56). These 56 people who were given typical Catholic names could be considered Catholics (Lithuanians or people of the Lithuanian origin), but only 38 people who were given typical Orthodox names could be considered Orthodox (Ruthenians). All other people who were given Christian names could be both Orthodox and Catholic.
