Popis: The aim of the articleis to identify and characterise the essence and components of the "hairstyle formation" category as a reflection of a person’s individual image creation process by a designer. Results.The essence and meaning of the concepts of hairstyle, form, and formation are analysed and revealed. The sequence of the hairstyle formation process is developed and presented, consisting of three stages: stage 1 – "Pre-project analysis", stage 2 – "Design search", and stage 3 – "Implementation of the design idea". The logical sequential presentation of the hairstyle formation process components allows creating the necessary set of expressive means in accordance with the designer’s creative idea and goal. The research results can be used in the preparation and implementation of such training courses as "Artistic Image Modelling", "Contemporary Hairstyle Design Technologies", and other disciplines in the system of hairstyle designer training and practical activity. Scientific novelty.For the first time in art study research, the integrative process of a hairstyle formation in the form of sequentially determined components that reflect and characterise the stages of creating an individual image of a person is presented and substantiated. Conclusions.The hairstyle formation is a process based on the values of fashion, society, culture, as well as aesthetic, functional, and technological requirements. The hairstyle shape in combination with stylistic characteristics and expedient execution technologies is an expression of individuality, social affiliation, image direction, and a representation of the aesthetic canons of the time.
