Popis: The aim of the present study is to focus on the Body Dysmorphic Disorder’s (BDD) emotional dimensions. Specifically, we hypothesize the relation between dysfunctional emotional regulation strategies (IERS) like alexithymia and BDD’s symptoms. We measured theses variables thanks to auto-questionnaires in a 228 women sample (M = 24,56 ; σ = 7,75).They were divided into 2 groups based on their psychological distress levels. Results of statistical analysis showed no significant correlation between IERS and BDD’s symptoms in the group with less psychological distress. However, for women with higher psychological distress “difficulty to identify feelings” factor (TAS-20) were a positive and significant predictor of all BDD’s characteristics measured and “externally oriented thinking” factor (TAS-20) were a negative and significant predictor of several BDD’s characteristics. Our hypotheses were partially disproved. Nevertheless, these first results could lead to a better understanding of BDD’s emotional dimensions. They also reveals that emotional processes are involved in many different ways in BDD.
