This report examines the influences on college planning that urban African American and Hispanic students encounter and how these influences help them develop and implement their plans for postsecondary education. Within the concept of a seamless P–16 education system, findings from this study combined with results of other studies can help shape education and social policies and practices aimed at improving the educational achievement, preparation, and transitions of urban African American and Hispanic students—as well as increasing the number of these students entering postsecondary education.
