This bachelor thesis is concerned to use of annual ryegrass in dairy cows diets. Literature review focuses the general characteristics of grasses, then on the biology of grass including description of the root system, leaves, stalks and grass stems, flowers, seeds and grass tillering. Table and chart with the current number of species and varieties of forage grasses is included in this work. The main part of my bachelor thesis include characteristic of the genus ryegrass, which includes annual and Italian ryegrass, perennial ryegrass and hybrid ryegrass. Further I focused on annual ryegrass management, including harvest and forage quality. Thesis describes also potential of grass forage use in the nutrition of dairy cows and annual ryegrass inclusion to the ration of dairy cows. Finally, thesis shows the results of an experiment with annual ryegrass varieties tested at Research Forage Station at Vatín conducted for the company AGROKOP HB. |
