The aim of this bachelor thesis is to describe historical development of the City museum in Příbram since its establishment at the end of the nineteenth century until its temporary closure through occupation during the Second World War. The bachelor thesis responses to the present absence of monograph existence, which would approximate the process of formation and successive functioning of the museum. Therefore, it deals with the establishment and consecutive more than fifty years lasting operation of the museum in Příbram, emphasis is put on the process of formation of the institution and problems involved, then on its museum, scientific and popularization activities and also on museum collection creation. The key events connected with the development of the museum in the period concerned are being described there, a particular attention is given to Ladislav Malý, founder and long-standing custodian of collections in the City museum in Příbram, who devoted nearly all his life to this institution. Finally, activities of the museum and its contribution to the mining city development since 1886 until 1944 have been evaluated there. |
