Popis: The NA62 experiment at CERN represents leading physics research of rare kaon de- cays. The aim of NA62 is to measure the rate of the decay K+ → π+ νν. Any significant discrepancy between the measured decay rate and the Standard Model (SM) prediction would be interpreted as a discovery of physics beyond the SM. The Straw spectrometer is a detector at NA62 which reconstructs the tracks of charged particles. The main goal of this thesis was to understand and describe in detail the track reconstruction algorithm with an ultimate goal to improve it in the future. The current track reconstruction ef- ficiency is above 98% but it decreases with rising beam intensity. In the second part of the thesis, a neural network was implemented to improve the pattern recognition of one-track events. The performance of this neural network is comparable to the perfor- mance of the current algorithm. Therefore, we show that neural networks can be used for track reconstruction in principle and possibly to improve even other parts of the current algorithm. 1
