The central part of this thesis will focus on the process of cochlear implantation in several cases of children, exploring their parents' experiences of receiving specialist care before and after implantation and providing their personal perspectives on implantation. This thesis is divided into theoretical and practical part. The aim of the theoretical part of the thesis is to give a brief overview of the development of a child with severe hearing impairment and to describe the role of the family, including the acceptance of hearing impairment. A significant part of the theoretical part will be devoted to the process of cochlear implantation in children and outlining the professional and speech therapy intervention. The aim of the practical part of the thesis will be to discover the parents' experiences with the process of cochlear implantation in their children, their cooperation with professionals, from the beginning of the diagnosis process, through the setting of the implant to its use in everyday life. From the methodological point of view, a qualitative method will be here used, specifically a semi-structured interview.
