The bachelor's thesis aim was to find out whether older age of mother during labour could be a potential risk factor for birth injuries. Bachelor thesis has two parts, theoretical and practical. The theoretical part describes the problematics of birth injuries and summarizes several foreign studies, which consider the age of mother as a risk factor for some birth injuries. The hypothesis was that older age is a risk factor for birth injuries. The aim of the practical part was to find whether the hypothesis is correct or not. The hypothesis was tested by comparing the incidence of different birth injuries between four groups of women settled by age (18-25 years, 26-30 years, 31-35 years, >35 years). In most cases the lowest number of injuries were in the youngest group (18-25 years), but the differences between groups were not statistically significant. Due to the small sample of women, I have analysed, the hypothesis could not be conclusively confirmed, but also conclusively disproved.
