This thesis focuses on the Spanish poet Jorge Guillén and analyzes his relationship with cubism. Even though cubism as a movement was mainly influential in avant-garde art and architecture, its impact on literature and poetry is also discussed when it comes to the work of Jorge Guillén. In particular, the topic of this thesis is Guillén's early poetry work and its relation to cubism. The poems were taken from the first edition of the work Cántico and an phenomenological analysis was used to study schematic aspects of the work. The goal of this thesis is to identify unique phenomena and repeating patterns which would allow the poems to be interpreted, estetically, as cubistic. |
