The diploma thesis deals with the issue of the perceived influence of the Instagram social network on a group of adolescents aged 11-15 years. The theoretical part is divided into three parts. The first unit presents current trends in network communication and new media focused on the social network Instagram. The second unit deals with the issue of body image, the third unit provides information on the theory of social comparison. The main question of the diploma thesis is what influence of the image content shared on Instagram the researched age group perceives, how they perceive the influence on their body image, whether they compare themselves with other users and whether this content in some way inspires or influences them. The form of semi-structured interviews with seventeen respondents was chosen as the research method. The analysis of the interviews is based on the procedures of grounded theory. Through the process of open, axial and subsequently selective coding, the obtained data were processed and research questions were answered. |
