This bachelor thesis is dealing with the standard of living in Czechoslovakia during the 1950's and 1960's. The first part characterizes the evolution in Czechoslovakia in the 50' and 60' from the political view, as well as it examines the influences of that policy on the society. The second part describes the development of a social policy in the years question. The third part is concerned with a question of leisure time and the matter of influencing the way of spending peoples' leisure time by the socialist power. The fourth part is focused on specific determinants of the living standards, comparing them with selected countries. The main goals are the analysis of the living standard and it's comparison with surrounding states and the evaluation of the role by the socialist power in the development of living standards and a leisure time. Socialist power played important role in living standards, specifically in factors determining the living standards as well as in formation of the leisure time. Comparison of the living standards is not completely straightforward. While some factors show underdevelopment of the Czechoslovakia compared to other countries, some variables are on a level comparable with the western states. |
