The aim of this paper is to evaluate the presence of a female voice in ci lyrics of Huajian ji and in lyrics by Li Qingzhao. Analyzing the motifs connected to women in selected lyrics of both the anthology and the poet, the paper is attempting to evaluate how the songs gain authentic/ inauthentic meaning, and why the traditional critics say that Li Qingzhao writes "as if she were not a woman." The paper starts with two introductory chapters, in which background information about ci lyrics, Huajian ji, Li Qingzhao and genre development between the two is given. The paper presents nineteen lyrics of Huajian ji and eleven lyrics by Li Qingzhao, which are divided into seven thematic ranges according to depiction of women. The presentation of lyrics includes working translation into Czech language and discussion of similarities and dissimilarities in the depiction of woman among the lyrics and the authors as such. The conclusion of this paper is that the authenticity of poems by Li Qingzhao is brought across by different approach to reading her lyrics and those present in Huajian ji, as well as by the possibility to connect her lyrics to the facts known about her real life. |
