Popis: | This thesis explores the latest Czech translation of the novel The Idiot by F. M. Dostojevky rendered by Libor Dvořák (2020). This translation is compared with the previous published translations from three Czech translators: Stanislav Minařík (2014), Bohumil Mathesius (2007) and Tereza Silbernáglová (2005). The main purpose of this thesis is to find out whether the translation by Libor Dvořák brings innovations in comparison with previous published works and to emphasize how it differs from the existing translations. The analysis and comparison of the newest translation is leading to the conclusion that the new Czech version of F. M. Dostoevsky's novel The Idiot was beneficial, especially in terms of transfering of linguistic and artistic values of the original to the Czech readers. |
