This bachelor's thesis is conceived as an interpretative and comparative analysis of Alena Vostrá's novel Vlažná vlna (1966). It mainly focuses on the novel's experimental features, which resemble the aspects of the nouveau roman poetics. Therefore, the first part of the thesis outlines the contemporary context of the French nouveau roman as well as the Czech experimental literature of the 1960s, which serves as a reference for the following analyses. An important part of this thesis contains the analysis of the key works of the nouveau roman, as well as the reception of Vlažná vlna in contemporary criticism. The second part studies the main motifs of the novel and their influence on its overall composition, characters, and language. The aim of the thesis is to identify the experimental nature of Alena Vostrá's novel, to clarify whether it bears the characteristic aspects of the nouveau roman, and thus to situate it within the Czech and French experimental literature of the defined period. |
