This work deals with integrating folk traditions into the offer of education of a kindergarten in accordance with the General Educational Program for Preschool Education and their contribution to the development of key competencies. The theoretical part defines the meaning of key skills, specifies the key skills in the preschool education and conducts an assessment of these competencies. Potential of folk traditions for the development of key competencies is established. In frame of the next section the most important holidays and traditions, their importance, history as well as the ways of celebration are characterized. The practical part is devoted to the creation of specific thematic units. These units are continuously evaluated and a research documenting the benefits of folk traditions to the development of key competencies is performed. This program is implemented and its actual benefits in practice are evaluated in terms of the contribution of selected activities to the development of key competencies. |
