Popis: Some important territories in Central countries have been offering high-value musical activities to their residents for the last two decades, which also attract visitors and therefore generate tourism. In order to address the conceptualization of musical tourism as a general objective, the thesis conducts an in-depth review of the literature and proposes an initial social, economic, and territorial analysis of music and its international evolution, as well as in Spain, where tourism activity constitutes a possible higher evolution for music and requires a local network with coordination relationships between public and private agents. However, there is little empirical evidence and academic literature on the public-private coordination processes involved in the supply of musical tourism experiences and packages, and on the effects and impacts on the urban economy and territorial development. The theoretical framework presented establishes a value chain for the music industry, whose final phase, live performances, allows for the gathering of local and visitor demand and makes possible a broad repertoire of positive effects for users and for local production and employment, adding to the territories, where applicable, an injection of income through tourism and an external reputation effect through an urban brand associated with music. The theoretical framework also predicts the possibility that coordination processes between agents clustered in space initiate a sequence of clustering and highly competitive specializations and therefore local development. In this sense, the thesis includes an ad hoc design of methodological solutions, qualitative (focus groups and in-depth interviews with tourism and music agents) and quantitative (construction of composite indicators of tourism and musical specialization), in order to detect real coordination processes between agents from both sectors, tourism and music, in the Valencian Region and its potential destinations regarding the supply of tourist-musical experiences.
