ABSTRACT The modernization of the school system should have a significant influence on the role of homework. It is not just mere repeating and recapitulating of knowledge anymore as it has become much more productive. The purpose of the empirical part of this diploma entitled “The role of homework today” is to study the mediation, accomplishment and examination of homework in the first five grades of contemporary elementary school and explain the teacher's evaluation of homework. The results indicate a considerable presence of traditional homework. The predominating purpose of homework is still repeating, recapitulating, deepening and broadening of the knowledge. The majority of pupils make their homework regularly, which takes them from 15 to 45 minutes daily. The class teacher checks the homework everyday but depending on the type, the teacher checks the homework of each individual pupil or the class checks it together. Finally, it should be exposed that homework is an obligation which helps the pupils to repeat and broaden their learning material at home. |
