It is important to realize that every child is born free and has the right to grow up in a safe environment. The child’s primary family is the first to provide the child with a sense of acceptance, security, and unconditional love. We have discovered that educators and teachers who work with the most vulnerable populations of children and adolescents who are exposed to various forms of violence, spend a lot of time with them and therefore, have the potential to notice possible changes in behavior, emotions and way of thinking that could indicate abuse. It is helpful if professionals have knowledge of the area and are able to identify signs when a child is exposed to violence. It is important that they know how to act to help such a child as much as possible. Therefore, we conducted a study on a sample of professionals in kindergartens and schools (N = 162), to examine whether the competencies and knowledge of teachers contribute to better recognition of children exposed to violence, taken into consideration that the teacher himself is a parent that the teacher is educated in recognizing violence against children has work experience with child victims of violence has a regular workplace. The results confirmed the hypothesis that the professionals who attended training on violence against children, recognize the signs of violence before their colleagues. It is indeed true that educating professionals about violence is important.
