Popis: V diplomskem delu so predstavljeni nekateri sociološki in zdravstveni vidiki samomorilnosti. In diploma thesis are introduced some sociological and health issues of suicidal behavior. Intention of diploma thesis was to introduce the problem of suicidal behavior in Slovenia, with special considerations of regions, in wich suicidal rates are higher than average, to find out and analyse some health, biological, medical, economical, sociological and ethical points of wiev. The diploma thesis combines theoretical and empirical part. In theoretical part are described some diferent aspects of the problem. Risk factors for suicidal behavior are introduced and some myths and facts are being explained. It is also presented inportance and role of a nurse in process of nursing care of a suicidal person. Some statistic facts about suicidal rates in Slovenia are being presented and some possible and implemented solutions of this problem are being indicated. Research is introduced in empirical part, which took place in 2009 in three General hospitals in Slovenian regions with high suicide rates (region of Celje and Koroška). The questionnaire was delivered among 130 health workers, with purpose to determine their knowlige and their point of wiev to this problem. We found out, that health workers, who participated in our questionnaire, are well aware of fatcs regarding suicide, but when they are asked to express their own opinion about suicide and people who comitted suicide, they gave us high percentage of undicided anwsers, except, when we asked them about their opinion about euthanasia. Majority beives, that they don't have sufficient knowledge and experience, to help suicidal patient or prevent suicide.
