The scope of this Bachelor thesis presents a system for control and traffic management on Slovenian highways and fast roads, which allows systemic control and management of traffic at emergency situations. The first part of the thesis is theoretical and describes intelligent transport systems, system for control and traffic management and its description and European transport policy (White Paper, 2001). The introduction of intelligent transport systems allows us to improve the traffic conditions on specific sections of Slovenian highways. By following the guidelines of the White Paper (2001) and their implementation in Slovenian national legislation to increase the competitive strength of Slovenia in Europe and to optimize traffic flows. The second part of the thesis will be based on the applicability of the sistem for control and traffic management, the current situation and analyze it. Any system can be improved, bring it closer to users and reduce the costs incurred in its use. I will present possible solutions to optimize the system for control and traffic management, to assess the possibility of their introduction and further development.
