In this thesis we deal with the thermal insulation of walls, which represent the largest part of the construction and building envelope on the surface. Four different materials for the thermal insulation of the building envelope are considered. Their basic characteristics and their effect on the environment are presented in this thesis. The thicknesses of each material is calculated for the specific heat transfer and the prices, which are summarized according to the valid price lists of each individual materials. The cheapest material is selected from the price analysis. The results show that the cheapest material is glass wool and not expanded polystyrene, which is the most commonly used thermal insulation material. We found that the price differences between these four materials are considerable, since the most favorable material is three times cheaper than the most expensive ones.
