Popis: This volume was prepared by Inga Heiland while she was working at the Ifo Institute. It was completed in July 2016 and accepted as a doctoral thesis by the Department of Economics at the University of Munich. It comprises five chapters addressing one or more aspects of international trade and factor movements, including trade in goods, trade in value added, international movement of labor and capital, and trade in risk. All chapters aim to contribute to our understanding of the economic gains from globalization in its various forms. Thereby, they touch more or less explicitly on the issues of the determinants of the pattern of trade, factor flows, and production, as well as the role of barriers to the international exchange of goods and factors. From a methodological point of view, all chapters share a strong emphasis on general equilibrium analysis, and those chapters that are accompanied by an empirical analysis rely primarily on structural estimation.
