Without well accepted testing methods, no "performance specification" can be used successfully; for testing methods to be widely accepted, they must be standardized. This paper explains the need for standardized testing methods as applied to the performance concept of building. It also outlines the history of ASTM Committee E-6 which has as its task the preparation and stimulation of the necessary standard methods of testing building constructions. Details of Committee membership, meetings and activities are also included. |
