Popis: This quantitative study investigates the perceptions of ChatGPT in post-secondary education, exploring its benefits and drawbacks as reported by students and faculty members. With prior ethics approval, a total of 39 participants from a Canadian research university's Faculty of Applied Science took part in an anonymous survey. The findings indicate that ChatGPT is perceived as a valuable learning tool, providing access to additional resources, improved learning outcomes, and time savings. However, issues were raised about response inaccuracies, academic dishonesty and ethical considerations, such as bias and privacy. These results contribute to the understanding of AI's role in higher education and provide insights for educators about the potential opportunities and challenges of using ChatGPT in academic settings. This research was approached by the institutional ethics board. Bring your own device (smartphone, laptop, tablet) to participate in the interactive polling session!
