Popis: This thesis deals with the development of a sphere anemometer for the measurements of wind speed and direction in the complex conditions of wind energy and meteorology applications. It was optimized in several development stages regarding its 2D calibration and temporal resolution. Systematic investigations on the impact of tube material and sphere surface properties on the 2D calibration function resulted in a final development stage of the anemometer. The assessment in wind tunnel experiments confirmed this prototype to be competitive with commercial anemometers regarding the measurement accuracy, precision and temporal resolution. Comparative measurements of the sphere anemometer and two commercial anemometers were performed in turbulent flows in the wind tunnel and in a field campaign in order to assess the performance of the newly developed sphere anemometer.
