Dissertation presented as the partial requirement for obtaining a Master's degree in Information Management, specialization in Knowledge Management and Business Intelligence Most studies on technology innovation lack research on well-being, focusing mainly on innovation for wealth. Research has shown that smart home technologies will be one of EU’s top priorities and are expected to increase user’s quality of life. This study aims to understand how the adoption/use of smart home technologies can influence user’s well-being. To understand this phenomenon, we combined two prominent theories in IS studies: the expectation-confirmation theory (ECT) and the unified theory of acceptance of technology 2 (UTAUT2). This study is based on an online survey with a sample of 309 responses. Findings suggest that satisfaction moderates the relationship between user’s adoption of smart home technology and their well-being. Results indicate that the adoption of smart home technologies alone does not directly influence user’s well-being, being necessary to measure user’s smart home technologies satisfaction to understand this phenomenon. |
