This essay examines the role of Hindutva ideology in mobilising Large Groups to engage in violence. Aspects of Hindutva ideology can be classified as extremist in nature. The ideology therefore has the potential to manifest into violence. Particularly, it develops ethnic markers that become symbolic of the Hindutva Group Tent. This paper identifies the issue of cow protectionism and the subsequent violence that ensues because of the issue, makes the cow the latest symbol of the Hindutva group tent. The narrative of protecting the cow is ideologically warped in Hindutva extremist ideology that eventually manifests into different forms of violence. Master of Science (Strategic Studies) |
