The paper presents a research about adult immigrant's informal learning in Sunday free time. The research concerns two specific targets: a) women and men (with family and relatives), immigrants in Italy from South America and the Philippines who have been here for more than five years; b) lonely women recently arrived from Eastern Europe. The research method is the grounded theory, which enables us to describe a phenomenon (not yet much studied in literature) and to express some theories about it. We created, tested and used three ways to collect data:1) a close questions survey (searching for information about places, forms and times) ;2) an outline with questions for in-depth interviews, focusing on six topics: intentionality to go out and visit places; entertainment and communication; private time and public time; identity; will of integration; 3) a form to paint a graphic representation of lived free time |
