Thesis (PhD)--University of South Australia, 2014. Includes bibliographical references (pages 178-209) Movement of the foot and ankle are critical for human locomotion. Our understanding of how foot function changes across the lifespan and with disease in the lower extremity is growing. Understanding how these processes are related to changes to the biomechanics of the foot and ankle is important to inform strategies for the prevention and management of foot and lower limb pathology. This thesis aimed to determine the changes to the kinematics of the foot and ankle complex during walking in older adults, adults with knee osteoarthritis and following total knee arthroplasty. |
