Popis: There are many calls from educators for enabling students to become empowered. Empowering students to take control to lead functional and fulfilling lives should help them meet their needs for power and belonging, and enable them to realise their social goal, Such an outcome should positively affect students' achievement motivation. There has only been a small amount of research examining specifically the construct of student empowerment and a dearth of research conducted in the primary school context from the teacher and student perspective. This paper reports on a study that investigated how a teacher can enable student empowerment in an Australian primary school classroom. The findings of the study contribute to a greater understanding of how teachers can meet the call for enabling students to become empowered, particularly in implementing curriculum.
