Popis: Indigenous content has featured in psychology and social work programs at the University of South Australia (Unisa) for several years. It adopts a cultural competency approach, with a focus on critically analysing the psychology and social work professions and preparing students to practise in culturally complex environments. In this paper, the models that underpin Indigenous studies at Unisa are discussed, along with the different approaches dominant in the psychology and social work professions. The Indigenous studies curriculum needs to respond to the possibility of student resistance and ensure that content is relevant to professional practise. In addition, the curriculum content needs to be led by Indigenous people and fully supported by the university's policy and strategic directions. The paper proposes that further exploration of cultural competency frameworks is needed to guide Indigenous studies in the human service and social science professions. Refereed/Peer-reviewed
