Popis: Preeclampsia (PE) is a placental disorder associated with hypertension, proteinuria and glomerular endotheliosis. Neprilysin (NEP), a membrane metallopeptidase, inactivates biologically active natriuretic peptides and other vasoactive compounds, including endothelin and angiotensin. Its expression in the syncytiotrophoblast has previously been reported to be increased in PE1. We sought to confirm this finding and determine if active NEP is released into the maternal circulation via syncytiotrophoblast extracellular vesicles (STBEV).
