Popis: Focal slow wave activity in spontaneous MEG has been associated with neuropathology. Slowing of spontaneous MEG has also been reported in various psychiatric diseases. Especially EEG studies have shown increased slow wave activity in schizophrenic patients mainly in the delta range. The aim of this study was to localise focal slow wave activity in the delta (1.5Hz-4Hz) and the theta (4Hz-8Hz) bands using a dipole density method in patients with a DSM-IV diagnosis of affective (depressive) disorder. The main finding was that depressives displayed less generators of focal slow wave activity than controls in prefrontal brain regions.
