Popis:	In earlier scholarship a simplified connection between Gnostic mythology and ethics was presupposed. One assumed that the Gnostic myth would result in libertinism or ascetism. The last decades this simplified view successfully has been challenged, but at the same time the connection between myth and ethics has been blurred or totally obliterated. In this article the scholarly debate is summarized and criticized and a new proposal for the connection between the myth of the Gospel of Truth and the ethics that is advocated for in the text is put forward.
