Mandated well-child care benefits have only recently been enacted, so little information on the cost and utilization of these benefits is available. This article reports the results of a study on the actual premium increases, utilization, and cost of these benefits in Florida. The findings indicate that the cost impact of mandated benefits for well-child care has been rather minimal. The utilization of this benefit was low in comparison with recommended care, and the premiums charged exceeded those needed to pay actual claims. |
