Popis: Introduction For the accreditation of a laboratory according to ISO 15189 a proof of continuous training and qualification of employees is required. In this contribution we propose an Android app for usage in the field of morphological analysis of blood cells. This app was developed for a detailed evaluation of the skills and for training of the laboratory stuff. Methods Hematopoetic cell images are extracted by automated systems for the morphological analysis of blood or bone marrow. These systems deliver images of single cells which are pre-classified and validated by experts. All image and meta-data is stored on a web-server and can be accessed by the developed Android application. The user has to assign images of a single cell to the correct cell class by clicking on the corresponding button. During the classification process the progress is visualized for the user. After classifying each cell of the data set the user has to approve the classification and gets a visual and quantitative feedback of the achieved classification accuracy. For each cell class the cell count of the expert and the user is shown. Moreover, the class-wise and the overall precision of the user classification are displayed. Furthermore, it is possible to navigate through the wrong classified cell images to review the classification made by the expert. Results The developed solution enables a detailed documentation and rating of the qualification of the laboratory stuff in the field of morphological analysis of hematopoetic cells. Another application of this solution is education and training of assistants and medical staff. Conclusion Through this Android app a direct feedback about personal cell differentiating capabilities is provided. It is possible to distribute identical data sets of scarce material to a basically unlimited audience allowing standardized and comparable performance reviews and provide high quality training material.
