1. Trypanosoma cuniculicida was encountered as a naturally occurring infection in a stock rabbit. 2. Successful passage in rabbits was accomplished by (1) infestation with Spilopsyllus cuniculi from an infected rabbit; (2) intravenous inoculation of blood from an infected rabbit. 3. Rabbits were relatively ¡Insusceptible to experimental infection, while rats, mice and guineapigs were completely immune. 4. Attempted reticulo-endothelial blockade in rabbits did not facilitate infection. 5. Serological experiments revealed no trypanocidal power of the serum of rabbits, rats, mice and guineapigs. 6. Culture of the parasite in semi-solid blood agar was accomplished. |
