Companies are increasingly concerned to remain competitive in the market, seeking agility in serving their clients. The structuring of a portfolio management process is a suitable alternative for achieving competitiveness since the set of new products are chosen more efficiently and effectively. In this context, this paper aims at conducting a diagnostic of practices of product portfolio management in a manufacturing company. This is done based on a survey instrument from PDMA (Product Development and Management Association in the USA). The work is characterized as a case study of which the unit of analysis is the new product development (NPD) of a company from the textile industrial sector. The results show the current the portfolio management practices in the company in comparison with PDMA survey. This is the basis for developing a future proposal for a portfolio management for the company, focused on the selection and prioritization of products. The paper concludes that the respondents of the PDMA survey have similarities in the results when compared to the answers from the investigated company. In addition, some opportunities for improvement are also identified. |
