Popis: The basis for this thesis is the political legitimation of the notion of ghetto. From a residents’ perspective, it questions which social consequences the political linguification and legitimation of the notion of ghetto have for residents of the housing estates categorized as ghettos. The issue on which the thesis is based is motivated by the paradox which appears in the schism between the political linguification of the notion of ghetto and the dominating perceptions of the notion of ghetto within the research field of urban sociology. Through a content analysis from the viewpoint of framing of the Prime Minister’s speech at the State Opening of Parliament in 2010, interviews with residents in the areas categorized as ghettos are analyzed, with the purpose of understanding the residents’ use of the Prime Ministers linguification. As a means of understanding the social consequences of the political categorization, the further analyses of the thesis draw on Loïc Wacquant’s theory on territorial stigmatization and Pierre Bourdieu’s understanding of social reproduction, where categorization, nomination and symbolic violence are central concepts.
