The aim and focus of this thesis have been to examine how the conditions of opportunity that are created for sustainable health promotion in the transition from Christmas Seal Home to everyday life. The project investigates this by possessing a social constructivist perspective, where existing knowledge that is taken for granted is questioned. The methodological approach of this study consists of an observational study of the Christmas Seal Home and a series of interviews with employees, families and municipalities associated with the Christmas Seal Home. The collected empirical evidence has formed the basis for the analysis on uncovering the way in which the child, the family, the Christmas Seal Home, the school and the municipality participate in the creation of opportunities to ensure sustainable health promotion in the transition from the Christmas Seal Home to everyday life. Based on a theoretical framework about transition, this study will explain how the possibilities for sustainable health promotion are created through health theoretical elements from the setting approach, participation and competence to act. By applying these theories, there will be a critical analysis and discussion of the structural framework of the actions that exist in the transition and challenge the truth of the transition that has been institutionalized and has become part of the culture that exists in the transition.Throughout the study process it have been possible through theoretical anchoring to conclude that the prerequisites for creating sustainable health promotion are limited due to a lack of involvement and participation from the other settings in the child's everyday life. The habit formation and the reproduction of the action patterns and the distribution of roles in the transition have created barriers to seeing new and alternative possibilities for the processes of the transition. |
