This master thesis in Danish literature is about the author Helle Helle and her two latest novels Ned til hundene (2008) and Dette burde skrives i nutid (2011). Mainly, the purpose is to conduct both a stylistic and thematic analysis within the two novels. The stylistic analysis aims its focus towards the minimalistic and restrained way of writing in order to characterize the two books. Furthermore this analysis investigates the realism that sometimes may seem peculiar and defamiliarized. Since the two protagonists are both either an established novelist or a novelist to be, and since they are both to be compared with Helle Helle as an author herself, the two books have been pointed out as metafiction in the secondary literature. Unfortunately, no one has provided with an analysis in detail when it comes to this theme, which is why it is this thesis’ main objective is to examine the novels as metafiction and to illustrate the extent of this issue and in particular its connection to just the novels' style as well. This will further interact with a thematic analysis of the metafiction provided be the novels' protagonists as writers. |
