This project examines the impact of industrialization and globalization through the Danish maritimehistory. The impact can be found in the different categories of maritime traffic: trade by ships, portsand shipyards. It will be analysed how technologies have influenced the maritime Denmark and thedevelopment of geographical landscape. Through what is characterized as fieldwork in the archives,we access sources of historical nature to understand which technological and organizationaldynamics has an impact on the maritime Denmark. There has been established a cooperation withthe Maritime Museum of Denmark and Statistics Denmark, as well as the use of materials fromseveral other institutions. Based on theory by David Harvey and Peter Dicken, which treat time andspace in globalization, this project concludes that the development in Danish maritime industry hasa directly impact on the time and space convergence the we know today. |
