Popis:	Monitoring oil pollution by using students to count tarballs on beaches. Samples were taken between 2006 and 2010; a significant relationship was demonstrated between the abundance of tarballs and exposure to shipping lanes. The contribution of local communities to monitoring marine pollution was also demonstrated. FAO Bay of Bengal Large Marine Ecosystem Project (BOBLME) The Bay of Bengal Large Marine Ecosystem Project (BOBLME) was supported by the Global Environment Facility, the Food and Agriculture Organisation of the United Nations, the governments of Norway and Sweden. The project was executed by the Food and Agriculture Organisation of the United Nations.
