The subject of this analysis is the woman and her social position promoted by Serbian orthodox church (and Russian orthodox church). It is well known that women have for centuries been systematicallz excluded from the sphere of public life and from position of power. Among the most influential factor promoting such a policz have been churches and religious communities, whose rules and interpretation imposed a patriarchal and authoritarian value system with a hierarchical power structure. It was important to examine what model of woomanhood promote SOC(and ROC), whether thez influence the system of values in serbian (and russian) society and process of social emancipation of womanor reflects the actual status of woman in society. The aim of the analysis is to find out, using qualitative methods content analysis, what roles, functions, qualities and attributes are ascribed to women (as girl, spouse and mother) with regard to man (as bozfriend, husband and father)in the discurs of SOC (and ROC). |
