Popis: In this chapter we formulate a cognitive-semiotic perspective on knowledge and knowledge management. The focus is especially on types of knowledge and not on contents (domains) of knowledge. As domain of knowledge in this research the management of IT projects is chosen. In this domain we focus on how knowledge is managed during product innovation. The management of the company lacks control information of the way the production resource "knowledge" is actually used in the company. They experience that they are not able manage adequately enough the transfer of knowledge from the project members to the administrators of the IT systems. To assess the knowledge types we performed a knowledge mapping in which we determined the sensory, coded and theoretical knowledge of the organizational tasks or processes. Based on the research findings a change trajectory has been suggested in order to have a more effective and more efficient product innovation process.
