| Popis: | This chapter discusses research conducted to understand the requirements of elderly for informal social telecommunication media that may be addressed through awareness technologies. It discusses the relation between the concept of social presence and the notion of awareness that the class of systems studied supports. Finally, we draw attention to the research method used which we feel is the most appropriate for gauging the social effects of technologies introduced to support social activities through ICT. |
