This multi-year service community activity is expected to improve the lives of the villagers whose village as one of the educational tourism destinations. Therefore, a need analysis is conducted for the first year. As part of the need analysis this paper aims to expose the stakeholders’ perception for the establishment of a language village at Desa Cisaat, Kecamatan Ciater, Subang, West Java. Desa Cisaat, Ciater, Subang as a fostered village of Jakarta State University (UNJ) has enormous potential for community development and empowerment, especially in the areas of education, tourism as well as culture and art. Establishing a language village requires many aspects. Two prominent aspects are the village potentials and the stakeholder’s perception for the establishment of language village. Interviews and delivering questionnaires were used to collect data from the multi parties as the stakeholders for four themes: prior knowledge, the potential, preparation and model. The data which present the stakeholder’s perception of the four themes show that the villagers welcome the establishment of a language village at Desa Cisaat, Ciater, Subang because it will support the community empowerment and development. They are also highly motivated in learning foreign language as they are aware of the importance of language skill. |
