The history of higher education in Thailand began in the twenty century and started with the establishment of Chulalongkorn University in 1917. Since 1991, more than 80% of high school graduates have enrolled in higher education. Higher education in Thailand has entered a phase of universal access, wherein the higher education net enrollment rate has exceeded 50% since 2004. There has been a rapid increase in the number of faculties, departments, and programs in computer and environmental fields. As a result, Thailand's government has achieved the quantitative expansion of higher education. However, It is necessary to examine whether the quality of education has been improved. |
