Popis: | 研究ノート Research Notes This article aims to analyze the errors of existential and possessive verbal constructions in Filipino language among Japanese native speakers who major in Filipino by focusing on grammatical correctness. It is difficult for learners to construct sentences with various focuses. The errors in 34 patterns of sentences which were collected from quizzes, semestral final exams and exams for promotion in intermediate grammar classes for sophomores from 2019 until 2022 were examined. The errors were first classified into two large categories, linguistic category and surface structure. Under the linguistic category, they were categorized into marker, aspect of verb, conjugation of verb, focus of verb, affix of verb, linker and vocabulary. In surface structure, they were categorized into omission, addition, misformation and misordering. The sources of errors are language transfer in both the source language and target language, learning strategies, and ineffective digestion and absorption of grammatical items already learned. |
